Mason Creek Middle School Counseling Program

 

School counselors are trained to provide guidance and counseling services to help students develop academically, personally, and socially.

The middle school counselor. . .

  • Assists parents and teachers in helping children
  • Conducts classroom guidance activities
  • Provides individual and small group counseling
  • Coordinates school-wide guidance activities
  • Consults with outside agencies

A child may see the counselor for . . .

  • Study skills
  • Academic planning and career exploration
  • Issues with friends
  • New situations
  • Difficult decisions
  • Success & Accomplishments
  • Family Concerns
  • Happy occasions
  • Dealing with grief, loss, or illness
  • Any other area of concern

How can a student see the counselor? 

  • Teacher referral
  • Administrative referral
  • Parental referral
  • Self-Referral

          The school counselor is NOT:

  • A Disciplinarian
  • An Administrator
  • A Social Worker
  • A Therapist

We believe in the worth and dignity of ALL students. We believe that positive change can occur through professional school counseling. It is our goal to provide a SAFE place for this change to take place and to facilitate to the best of our ability so that children can achieve to their potential. We are committed to actively serving young adolescents in a professional manner which fosters personal growth and academic success.

Become a Mentor Today!

The MATCH Program is a school based- mentoring program that connects participating students in the Douglas County School System with caring adults. We are looking for adults who want to make a difference by giving just one hour a week of their time to mentor.  Mentors spend time with their mentees during school hours.  The mission of the mentoring program is, "To ensure all students have positive, caring, supportive adult role models as part of their lives to enhance their chances for success in school, complete their education, and grow up to be contributing citizens".
