My name is Stan Lawson. I have been married for seventeen years to my wonderful wife, Julie , and together we have two children.

I had my first experience working with children with disabilities the summer of 1996. I was a camp counselor at, Camp ASCCA, an Easter Seals camp for children with disabilities. This was one of the best experiences of my life. I worked with children of all ages and disabilities. We focused on what the children could do despite their disability. The camp activities included fishing, repelling, pontoon boat riding, canoeing, horseback riding and ropes course activities. By the end of the first week, I was hooked! These children had captured both my heart and my interest and I continued working at the camp for nine months. I met my wife at the camp and was encouraged to continue my education.  I graduated from The University of West Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Mental Retardation and Masters degree in Special Education. I have completed the certification that is required to be a Highly Qualified special education teacher.

In 1999, I began teaching in the Douglas County School System. I taught students in a self-contained Mildly Intellectually Disabled classroom for four years. In 2004, I began teaching students with a learning disability. I have taught in a resource and co-taught classroom school setting.  In the past several years, I have taught math, reading, and language arts at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level. I enjoy teaching and guiding these students to reach their highest potential.

I am the assistant coach for the Mason Creek Football Program. I am very excited about teaching and coaching these great group of student's that we have here at Mason Creek Middle School. Go Wolves!
